Picture update

Another quick one before a nice leap to morocco, currently residing up the Guadiana river, a place lots of people come and never leave ! But here is a mix from the last few stops most recent first !

Shout out to Linda, who hopefully isn’t sat at work looking at this 🙂

I spent most the trip up the river sitting on the cross trees up the mast

A gentle plod

For the past week we have been taking our time drifting down the coast like sea gypsies stopping in different towns and beaches, looking for surf breaks amidst some pretty amazing backdrops IMG_0373.JPG
And as always there is a rather lovely sunset

PEACE

4 nights and 5 days later, we arrive in bayone putting the bay of biscay to our stern, let’s some it up! Long stary nights, near gales, huge swells, wales, dolphins, glowing dolphins in phosphorescence, sick, pooping in buckets, broken bits and some unforgettable feelings and sights the list could go On I say this smiling as it’s only the begining! Thanks to everyone who wished us good luck! And stay tuned for more

Bon Voyage!

The time has finally arrived! After almost a year of preparation, blood sweat and tears, Avocet is sea-worthy.

Joey has plotted our course, heading for Finisterre, our first port of call will be Beyone in Northern Spain.

IMG_0312.JPG

The forepeak has been turned into something of a surf shop, with 6 boards in total…

IMG_0315.JPG

Just a stop off at the fuel barge, notify the coastguard of our course.. And we will be on our way. Stay tuned!

Meg decided the boat needed a pet, not realising the snail had a family we now have a bit more than we bargained for!

IMG_0139.JPG
And always taking the opportunity to take photos of ourselves!

IMG_0135.JPG
Luckily for us the weather held out, just until we got back and had to tie the boat up, but as they say, there is no such thing as bad weather, just inappropriate clothing!

Doing the Dodgers

In order to make a spanking new pair of dodgers for you boat you need to first find your nearest pair of slippers to act as paper (dodger) weights IMG_0105.JPG
Colour is optional! Once joe has finished whipping the bad boys up our resident artist/ illustrator Meg is going to sign write them so the boat can wear its name with pride. As well as being very talented in the arts department Meggie has also lent her hand to crafts and made Ben an awesome log book/ travel journal IMG_0108.JPG

Meg and Debs have also been updating the Crew Profiles, and getting to grips with Twatter and IG

A little light tinker

Due to a lack of wind we took the opportunity to do some bits and bobs to the boat, thankfully for us the sun was shining. With only around 5 weeks left until we sail for Spain there is not a whole bunch of things to do, just the jobs that where put off before, finishing touches let’s say. So we started the day of with a bit of sewing, making the cockpit cushion covers. Here is Joe doing just that:

We then decided that we had been indoors for too long and went to the boat, there Ben hauls Joe up the mast to fix the anchor and motoring lights, while the rest of us enjoyed the sun

Some of the neighbours cruised over to see what all the fuss was about…

Tomorrow will be a full day of cushion covers and a set of new dodgers for the boat as the weather is coming in. The weekend is looking to be wet but with a good bit of wind about, a chance to really test out the new sail and hopefully some swell on the horizon so we can get our rubber on

Peace!
